Omar Khayyam’s birthday and Google Doodle

Khayym tomb outer view

Five years ago, my husband and I had a journey to Nishapur to renew our marriage.
Early in the morning we got there and we were so eager to visit the Omar Khayyam tomb first, therefore we had to wait till the door opened.

The poet is buried in a beautiful garden and in 1959 a modern memorial monument designed by the famous architect H.Seyhoun has been built on his grave.

The monument is decorated by Iranian tiles covered with his poems written in Persian Calligraphy. It was such a memorable visit and touched our hearts because for us Khayyam is not just an agnostic poet. He is a life guru with Iranian philosophy insight.

Turquoise beautifies your life

After that we bought a couple of Phiroozeh(Turquoise) rings from the jewelry shop at the corner of the garden to renew everything(Ha Ha).
Every time I wear my ring, it reminds me of the poem of Khayyam:

“Oh threats of Hell and Hopes of Paradise!
One thing at least is certain – This Life flies;
One thing is certain and the rest is Lies –
The Flower that once has blown forever dies.”

And all of these lovely memories came to my mind just by seeing Google’s Doodle for Khayyam’s birthday.

Well! I should say “Happy birthday old man”. It is really your talent to make people feel better about life even when you are 971 years old.
Sometimes you do it simply via your poems and sometimes you have colleagues in Google trying to ease people’s life.
